Child Safety is at the core of our work, guided by the National Principles for Child Safe Organisations. We are dedicated to creating environments where children are safe, respected, and heard, with their rights shaping our approach.
In line with the principles, our approach:
- Outcare embeds child safety in leadership and governance
- Ensures children’s voices inform decisions
- Involves families and communities
- Upholds equity and inclusion
- Recruits and supports suitable people to work alongside children, young people, families and individuals
- Maintains child focused complaints processes
- Equips staff with ongoing training pertaining to child safety
- Maintains safe physical and online environments
- Regularly reviews implementation and documents how we keep children safe
We all share responsibility for protecting children and supporting their wellbeing. Outcare recognises and responds to children as victims/survivors in their own right.
Exposure to violence, coercive control, fear or instability directly affects a child’s safety, development, wellbeing, and long-term outcomes. Our practice design integrates the listening too and valuing of children’s voices, partnering with safe caregivers, meeting statutory reporting responsibilities, and supporting recovery through trauma responsive, developmentally informed practice.
