New Child Safety Cards Empower Kids to Identify Their Safe Person

At Outcare, keeping children safe is at the heart of everything we do. We know that child safety isn’t just about policies — it’s about everyday conversations, awareness, and connection. That’s why we’ve partnered with Superyou Therapy to create a new, practical tool to help families talk about safety in a way that’s easy, visual, and empowering for children.

Together, Outcare and Superyou Therapy have developed Child Safety Cards — colourful, easy-to-use cards designed for children to:

– Draw their safety person – someone they know, trust, and can turn to when they need help.

– Write important details like names and contact numbers.

– Keep it visible at home, such as on the fridge, for quick access in an emergency.

These cards act as a gentle prompt for parents, carers, and children to have meaningful conversations about who a young person’s “safe person” is and what to do if they ever feel unsafe. They also support open communication using a visual, child-friendly format that helps reinforce safety messages in a positive way.

The speech therapists at Superyou Therapy have thoughtfully ensured the cards use simple, accessible language and legible fonts, making them suitable for children aged 5 and up. Every element was designed to be inclusive and supportive of children with different communication needs and learning styles.

This initiative is part of Outcare’s ongoing commitment to child safe practices across all our programs and communities. By helping children identify trusted adults and understand what safety means for them, we’re building stronger, safer environments — together.

After a fantastic response and welcomed initiative by parents and carers at Telethon 2025, if you’re part of a school, community organisation, or service that would like to access these cards for your children or families, we’d love to share them with you. Get in touch with us communications@outcare.com.au and we’ll post a set to you.

Together, we can make child safety something every child can see, understand, and feel confident about.
