About Outcare Scholarships

Benmark Scholarship:

In late 2022, the Sharbanee Family – Carol and her two sons, Jason and Scott, began making annual donations to Outcare in memory of Ken Sharbanee, Carol’s late husband.

Ken believed deeply in the power of education and hard work as a pathway to success, and in the importance of supporting those in your circle, a legacy that lives on through the creation of the Benmark Outcare Scholarship. With guidance from Outcare’s then Managing Director, the family chose to direct their donation towards establishing a scholarship program that has supported students from Marr Mooditj and ECU’s Criminology course, providing recipients with a financial boost and the opportunity to gain hands-on experience with Outcare.

One of the first recipients, Maree Garcia, is now a valued member of our team as a Reintegration Peer Worker. Now, with several successful rounds behind them, the Sharbanee Family have chosen to repurpose the Benmark Scholarship to support people transitioning from the justice system, continuing their commitment to giving others the opportunity to get to a better place and making a real difference where it matters most.”
